What we measure

We do not look only at closed trades. The main view of performance and risk uses a value that reflects current account value including open positions.

What happens. An account has several useful values. Balance is the accounting line after deposits, withdrawals and closed trades. Equity adds the floating result of open positions to balance. NAV is the investment portfolio value: cash plus positions marked by the broker in the account currency.

Why this matters for trust. Balance can look calm while an open position is already losing a lot of money. Risk and drawdown therefore need equity or NAV, while returns need to separate real performance from deposits, withdrawals and capital transfers.

How it works here. For MT4/MT5 the main value line is equity; between broker account readings it may be reconstructed from quotes so open risk is not hidden. For EXANTE and Interactive Brokers the main line is NAV from the start of monitoring, while earlier balance history is built from transactions. Capital flows are stored separately and are not counted as profit. EXANTE NAV updates once per minute; Interactive Brokers supplies a new valuation once daily at end of day.
