How we connect to an account
PnL Plus reads broker data through read-only access: history, positions, balance/equity or NAV. The connection cannot trade or move money.
What happens. The record starts on the broker server, not in an editable spreadsheet. MT4/MT5 use an investor password, Exante uses data API keys, and Interactive Brokers uses a read-only Flex token plus Query ID. Through these channels the service receives account history, open positions, cash movements and account valuations.
Why this matters for trust. The account owner can write notes, group trades and decide whether to publish a profile, but they cannot edit the broker records used for verified metrics. If the source is not connected or synchronization fails, that history should not look verified.
How it works here. PnL Plus uses only access methods needed to read data. They cannot open a trade, close a position, withdraw funds, transfer securities or change balances. The service reads the account, reconciles the received data and only then calculates analytics and public metrics.
