Playbooks: why mark up trades

Explains how playbooks turn a trade list into statistics for separate trading systems.

What it is. A playbook is a named setup or trading system. It has a name, emoji, color and description of the rules: what counts as an entry, where the exit is, and when the setup should not be traded. A trade can be linked to one or more playbooks.

How to mark up. Open a trade in the journal and tick the needed playbook in the markup block. To process a series of trades, select several rows and assign a playbook in bulk. You can create a new playbook right during markup, without preparing it on a separate page first.

What it gives you. On the Playbooks page, every system gets its own card: net result, trade count, win rate, profit factor, average win and average loss. The account's overall result stops mixing different ideas into one number.

The dashboard filter lets you inspect selected playbooks separately. Trade blocks narrow to the selected trades: win rate, profit factor, average result, behavior blocks and day details are calculated for that selection. Capital curves, NAV, income, allocation and other whole-account blocks stay whole-account and receive the "Whole account" badge.

When the filter is active, the "Selected result" tab appears. It is a separate money line starting from zero: cumulative realized result of selected trades by close time. It does not pretend to be the setup's equity curve, because capital, floating P&L and deposits or withdrawals cannot be honestly allocated to playbooks.

Example: you trade "Breakout" and "Countertrend". The whole account may be positive, but markup can show that Breakout has a stable profit factor while Countertrend gives back profit through a few long losses. Then the decision is made by system, not by the feeling from the latest trade.

Privacy. The public profile never publishes the journal: playbooks, notes and tags stay with the account owner only.

Limit. Income, dividends, coupons, taxes and other investment-account movements are not part of playbook statistics. Playbooks are about closed trades and their net result.

How we compute it

A playbook stores its name, emoji, color and description, while the trade link is stored separately. The filter selects trades linked to the chosen playbooks for the account; the dashboard calculates trade blocks for that selection, builds the selected-trade money line and aggregates closed-trade net result as profit plus commission plus swap.
