Daily P&L: Gross and Net
Shows each day's result from the change in NAV without capital movements affecting it, while Gross and Net separate performance before and after costs.
Each bar is the calendar day's net result. A deposit, withdrawal or transfer changes account size but does not become profit or loss on the chart.
The Net line accumulates daily performance after commissions, fees and taxes actually withheld. Gross shows the same history before those costs. A tax refund narrows the gap between the lines; this records broker operations and is not a tax calculation.
When you select a period, the zero baseline sits immediately before the first visible point. The first point therefore already includes its day's result, while the lines show only the cumulative result inside the selected window. One strong or weak day is a review signal, not a judgment on the whole strategy.
Example: NAV rises from $10,000 to $10,250, but $300 was deposited that day. Daily Net is −$50; if costs were $10, Gross is −$40.
On EXANTE, the latest day moves with NAV, which updates once per minute. Commissions, fees, taxes and new trades can arrive with the periodic full synchronization. Interactive Brokers daily data updates once at end of day.
How we compute it
We set the zero baseline immediately before the first visible point. At each point, daily Net equals current NAV minus previous NAV minus every capital movement between them: deposits, withdrawals, cash transfers and security transfers. Before monitoring starts, the history uses realized results rather than NAV; the related “Growth of $1,000 (VAMI)” article explains the continuous basis. At the join, transition revaluation is excluded from performance. Bars show daily Net, the Net line accumulates it, and Gross adds back commissions, fees and net taxes.
